Quotation Process - Booking for a specific time period
Introduction
By digital products in the offering process we mean here AdSales placements that are offered over a variable period of time and calculated according to volume. (For the special features of online products that are advertised according to the rotation principle, see the explanations in the Products section).
Checklist for the correct display of runtime-based bookings
The checkbox "Digital product" f42_dispo__isDigital__c is activated on the publication.
On the issue, the field "Published until" f42_dispo__PublicationDateUntil__c must have a value. Issues do not have to be created consecutively, but may also leave empty periods, for example, if periods have a seasonal dependency.
In the product property for the availability check, the object query is simply f42_dispo__AdPosCatalog__c.
If costing is carried out using prices per thousand, the field "PU" sf42_quotefx__SF42_VE__c in the product must be filled with the value 0.001.
In the admin settings the parameters "Multiply packing unit in calculation" - CalculatePackingunit - must be activated and "Quantity field rounds to whole numbers" - roundquant - must be set to false.
After you have configured your products correctly, you can create a quote in your Salesforce instance from the opportunity.
When you select a product in the quote, the AdSales data is retrieved from MediaVelox via the product property for availability check and you can make a reservation directly in the editor.
Display in the quote editor
By inserting the desired digital product, the following dialog is displayed:
Availabilities in the context of issues with time periods are additionally assigned a defined volume, e.g. to define a number of calls, clicks, etc. per time period. In contrast to the availability check for a point in time, here the volume is distributed linearly and can also be overbooked. This information is displayed, but still allows a reservation/booking.
Display in the editor | Meaning | Explanation |
---|---|---|
| Name of the product property | |
| desired volume | In this field you enter the number of contacts that you want to offer and this value is written simultaneously to the timeline and the quantity field in the product detail dialog. |
| Start date of the booking | The term of the booking starts with the start date. This field corresponds to the calendar entry in the time stream. |
| End date of the booking | The term of the posting ends with the end date. This field corresponds to the calendar entry in the time stream. |
Number of days booked | The value is calculated from the start and end date of the booking. | |
Display Blocked Positions | You can use the option switch to show and hide the display of the blocked positions below the time bar | |
Name of the issue | The name of the corresponding output is displayed above the timeline. | |
Availability | The green field shows the currently available volume. As soon as a reservation is entered, the volume is reduced accordingly. Reference to the object f42_dispo__AdPosCatalog__c | |
| Booked Volume | In the blue field, the number of contacts reserved on the timeline is displayed again. The quantity entered here is immediately deducted from the availability in the green field next to it. Since the number of desired contacts is distributed linearly on the time axis, there may be small deviations - in the single-digit range - from the quantity entered under volume. This field has no influence on the calculation. |
View a day on the time axis without booking | In the green upper field the existing availability is entered. The maximum number of clicks/contacts/ad impressions per issue is distributed linearly over the individual days. | |
View of a day on the time axis with entered reservation within the availability. | In the lower blue field, the booking you have just made is now entered. The value is immediately deducted from the availability shown above. | |
View of a day on the time axis with overbooking. | The value in the blue field - the desired number of contacts - exceeds the possible availability. This is now displayed in the red-orange field and as a negative value. |
If you have filled the CE field correctly, the calculation using CPM is transparent in the product detail dialog:
By accepting the desired reservation data, the booking is clearly displayed in the offer editor:
You can flexibly design the name and visibility of the columns yourself. For more information, see the section on column configuration.
The activation of the reservation will only take place once the quote has been synchronized to the opportunity. By creating the opportunity products, additional bookings (f42_dispo__DispoBook__c) are generated as required.
Control of overbookings
For digital publications, the limit of availability in the standard is not a hard limit. You can complete the booking process even if the available volume is overbooked. This ensures that the quoting process matches the flexibility of an AdServer.
If you do not want to allow overbooking in the quoting process, you can set this individually at the respective availability. The checkbox "Prevent Overbooking" f42_dispo__PreventOverbooking__c limits the bookable quantity to the actual availability per issue.
As soon as you exceed the availability in the quoting process, this will be displayed in the dialog:
Saving the dialog box is possible only after you have reduced the quantity.
Transaction limit
You may have a high availability for a placement, but do not want individual customers to occupy the ad space completely.
In addition to availability, you can use the f42_dispo__TransactionLimit__c field to specify the maximum volume per issue that can be occupied per booking.
