General
appero quote offers you the possibility to use existing quotes - incl. the products they contain - as a template for a new quote. This can take place within the same opportunity - our recommendation if a quote is renegotiated to maintain a history through different quote versions - but you can just as well use an existing quote as a template in another opportunity. This has the advantage that your manual changes, e.g. concerning texts, images and other parts of the layout, are preserved. Also, all products you want to offer to the customer are already included.
Alternatively, within the same opportunity, you have the possibility to load your existing opportunity products into a new follow-up offer.
Regarding the pricing itself, there are a few rules and important differences to keep in mind.
Situation | Setup-Parameter | Calculation |
---|
Use quote as template | not needed | Manually changed prices and discounts are transferred to the subsequent quote. |
Syncing of opportunity products to a new quote | CopyOppItemsNull = true | The opportunity products are reset to the original price book entry, if necessary bulk discounts are adjusted on item level and Sum Discounts are adjusted based on an existing Discount Matrix. |
Syncing of opportunity products to a new quote | CopyOppItemsNull = false | Manually changed prices and discounts are transferred to the subsequent quote. Bulk Prices and Product Properties of the type “Price Calculation” will not be checked nor will they apply. |
Transfer of existing products
The products from the template quote are taken over and inserted one after the other in the existing quantity when the editor is opened. If the product has properties that can be adjusted if necessary, the product details dialog opens and you can check the settings from the previous quote and change them as desired.
Initial price book check of the list price
For both options - quote as template and syncing of opportunity products - the following applies:
If no valid price book entry is found for the product, e.g. because the new opportunity uses a different price book and it is not included in it, the item is removed from the new quote:
Price changes are taken into account only when opportunity products are synced in the case CopyOppItemsNull = true.
The synced products are checked for the opportunity price book when they are loaded and the list price is adjusted to the current price book entry if necessary:
Transfer of Sum Discounts
Manually assigned Sum Discounts are taken from the template quote.
Special case Discount Matrix
If a Discount Type is assigned to the Sum Discount, the aforementioned distinction between takeover from quote or from opportunity applies.
Syncing of opportunity products in case CopyOppItemsNull = true
The Sum Discount will be checked for a Discount Matrix matching the new quote and displayed according to it. This may change the total sum of the quote.
Syncing from template quote or from opportunity products in case CopyOppItemsNull = false
In this case the discount type and related rules will be ignored for the time being, the discount from the template quote will be copied. If there is an active rule on the same Discount Type for the new quote account, it can be queried via the Reset button on the Sum Discount.
Transfer of discounts at item level
In both cases - quote as template and transfer of opportunity products - the following applies: Manually assigned discounts on item level are taken over from the predecessor quote.
However, if bulk price rules are assigned to the product, the discounts from the previous quote will be deleted and replaced by the discount value according to the bulk rule when syncing from the opportunity in case of CopyOppItemsNull = true.
