Product search
The product search via the inner vertical toolbar on the left side of the screen allows a quick search as well as a direct insertion of the selected product:
The meaning of the individual functions at a glance:

| Filter by product group | The top search window offers a filter option of the available products by product groups. The list of available product groups is scrollable and can be searched with full text search. Note: At this point, only the product groups created globally in Salesforce can be selected for which products are also contained in the current price book, not those configured specifically in the quote. For more information, see "Product groups". If no product groups are available as product filters, the product family is used for filtering. |
| Search product | The lower search window allows full text search by product name, as well as product code and the unit of measure, if these fields have a value. |
| Add product | The blue plus sign appears next to a marked product. By mouse click or enter function it will be added to the quote document and the detail dialog of the product will open. |
Product group vs. product family in product search
In appero quote Lightning, the product family from the Salesforce standard is only a fallback for the product group filter. This means that if product groups exist and are allowed to be used as filters, only product groups are available as filters in the quote editor. Only if there are no product groups but product families, then the product family is used as a filter.
Product dialog
The dialog when inserting a product is divided into three areas

- Additional products
Details
In the Details tab, calculatory and content-related information on the product is requested.
Calculation area
In the Calculation area, the columns available for calculation - e.g. quantity, list price, term, discount - are displayed and can be customized for the quote.
The color scheme of the fields illustrates two editing options:

Product information area
This area includes field values from the product record and space for further additions

| Product code | Indicates the article number belonging to the product, not editable at this point. |
| Product description | At this point, an extended product description can be entered, with the restriction that these then only apply to the respective quote. For more information on the rich text editor, see "quote lightning - text formatting". It is recommended to store the description of products right when creating the records in Salesforce. To do this, call up the "Products" tab and select an existing product or create a new one. In the product record, you can enter the product description in the field of the same name. |
Product features
The "Product features" tab is displayed if further features are assigned to the product that need to be specified. Product properties can influence the total price, e.g. an installation surcharge of 20% of the list price, or have a purely informative function, e.g. querying the installation date.
Additional products
Product dependencies can be configured via the "Additional products" function and queried when the product is inserted. Possible use cases are, for example, an installation effort for a generator or a support package that can be selected to match the product.
The desired accessory products can be easily added by clicking from left column

The toggle button at the top of the window offers you two ways to place the accessory products in the quote:

Basic functions
In the header area of the product dialog, the following basic functions are available

| Cancel | Closes the product dialog without saving, the changes will not be applied, the product will not be included in the quote. Afterwards, the focus is set back to the product search in order to insert further products, if necessary. |
| Add | Saves the information entered and adds the product to the quote. |
| The blue header bar always shows the calculation result for a better overview, e.g. quantity, discount, list price, sum of product properties with calculation, total sum. |
Products are inserted in the quote document either in the area of your product group, if any, or automatically after the last product placed in the quote. If there is no product yet, the new product will be inserted before the first subtotal.
Note: The "Copy products from opportunity" feature is currently not yet available in quote lightning (as of February 2019).
